Challenging the squat pattern.
Once our youth athletes are nailed their technique for the squat pattern it is time to start to challenging them. Everyone’s initial thought is to just add weight but there are so many more ways to challenge the youth athletes other than adding load. Challenging them to maintaining their perfect squat technique even when the load is placed in a slightly different position is a great way.
Here are some ways we have begun to challenge our youth athletes that are capable at completing a perfect squat repeatedly.
These options not only challenge their movement patterns but also provide variety, challenge stability, increase body and postural awareness within our youth athletes
